* Sudden increased energy, activity and restlessness
* Euphoric moods or overly good moods
* Extreme irritability – someone getting upset with anything and everything

* Denial that anything is wrong

* Loss of interest in any pleasurable activities

* Thoughts of death or suicide and even suicide attempts
Sometimes the symptom of bipolar disorder is mistaken as a temporary problem such as alcohol or drug abuse, poor work performance in school or otherwise; these may be in fact results of mood swings and depressive thoughts.

Like most other mental disorders, bipolar disorder cannot be diagnosed through a blood test or brain scan but only through the symptom of bipolar disorder or course of family history.
